The Plot

The story follows Elliot (Paul Rudd) and his teenage daughter Ridley (Jenna Ortega), who accidentally crash into a unicorn on their way to a crisis management summit. This seemingly magical incident takes a dark turn when Elliot’s boss, Dell Leopold, and his family seize the unicorn and uncover its supernaturally curative properties. As the Leopolds exploit the creature, they unknowingly unleash a deadly chain of events. The unicorn’s mate soon appears, seeking vengeance and leaving a bloody trail in its wake.

Behind the Scenes

Production on Death of a Unicorn began in Hungary in July 2023. Despite the challenges posed by the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike, the film secured a waiver to continue filming since A24 is not part of the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers.

Jenna Ortega and Paul Rudd were announced as the film’s leads in May 2023, with additional cast members joining the project later that year.
