What Would Gremlins 3’s Story Be About?

Gremlins 3 is expected to return to the twisted and dark tone of the original film, which made the franchise a cult classic. According to Chris Columbus, the script is as “twisted and dark as anything” in the series, harkening back to the sinister vibe of the first Gremlins movie. While the exact plot is still under wraps, Columbus has teased that the story will stay true to the essence of the franchise: a mix of horror, comedy, and chaos.

In 2017, Columbus also mentioned that the story could involve new characters alongside some familiar faces from the original films. One idea that was previously explored involved the gremlins causing havoc in Las Vegas, but the high cost of production made this concept difficult to execute.

Given that the last film ended with Gizmo living with Billy (Zach Galligan) and Kate (Phoebe Cates), it’s possible that Gremlins 3 will pick up with them as central characters, exploring what happens when the gremlins return. The plot may also explore the consequences of keeping a mogwai as a pet in a modern world.

Who Would Be Cast in Gremlins 3?

While the cast for Gremlins 3 is still a mystery, it’s likely that we will see the return of some beloved characters from the original films. Zach Galligan and Phoebe Cates are expected to reprise their roles as Billy and Kate, with Galligan even teasing the possibility of a new generation of characters, similar to Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Howie Mandel, who voiced Gizmo in the original films, could also return to lend his iconic voice to the lovable mogwai. While Cates has stepped away from acting in recent years, there may be a chance for her to make a return, especially given the continuing demand for more Gremlins.

The rest of the cast is still up in the air, but given the film’s potential to introduce new characters and actors, we can expect a fresh blend of stars eager to join the Gremlins legacy.
